Hearing aids:
Hearing aids are for people who have low amplification of sound, they usually are for people who have damaged their receptors within the ear . there are two types of hearings aids available to society . The analog and the digital hearing aid. They both have different ways of helping a person with their hearing.

digital: the microphone picks up a sound wave from a source eg: some one shouting. The energy will converted into a binary code which cane be decoded with the microprocessor which is programmed to notice the different loudness and pitch, The last step is the earphone will convert the sound from what it has decoded from the binary it receieved.

Analog:the microphone picks up a sound wave from a source eg some one talking . The energy is converted to electrical impulses which are then placed through an amplifier which boosts up the energy.After this the earphone which is place inside the canal will convert the energy into a sound , which in the end produces sound of the same pitch from the source but it will be increased.

Cochlear implant:
The cochlear implant converts the sound energy to electronic impulses by using the microphone to pick up the sound from a source, then the microprocessor will convert the sound waves into identical electronic impulses. The transmitter that has been placed inside will receive the impulses which then the electrical signlas are sent to the cochlea which causes the chain reaction that involves the auditory nerves which sends the information to the brain .

- limitations of each technology
the limitation with hearing aids in the lines of technology are :
  • the ear molds and the acoustic feed back that are issued back may repeat itself
  • And perhaps time consuming for the holder.
  • when there is a high frequency range the hearing aids could have limited potential.

The limitation with cochlear implant in the lines of technology are :
  • People who have come across auditory nerve damage( the loss of hearing that resulted from damage of the auditory nerve ) arent a good applicant due to the process of the implant , it works by the stimulation of the auditory nerve.
  • Long term problems could arise if there was complications during surgery that could result to ringing in the ears due to the surgical process.
  • The nerve that they connect towards are also connected to other nerves that link to taste and facial nerves that if partially damage could cause side term effects such as lost of taste.
